Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Contract Specialist to join our team at Northern Employment Solutions Inc.

The ideal candidate will have a College Diploma or Certificate in Administration and a minimum of 5 years experience in a contract administration role, preferably in a mining heavy industrial environment.

This is a remote mine camp setting with travel to site required for 4 x 12 hour shifts and the following week working from home for 5 x 8 hour shifts, rotating in this schedule for the duration of the contract. The contract is for 6 months with a high likelihood of renewal for a multi-year term as the project needs.

Responsibilities
  1. Analyzing and revising contracts for the purchase or sale of goods and services such as materials, equipment, suppliers or products.
  2. Negotiating new and existing contracts and establishing approval for contract change orders.
  3. Examining, analyzing and revising contracts that involve the purchase or sale of goods and services such as equipment, materials, supplies, or products.
  4. Reviewing drawings, specifications and contracts to ensure that appropriate equipment, materials and subcontractor services are ordered or purchased.
  5. Managing contract work relating to contracts.
  6. Trend analysis associated to contract.
  7. Establishment or negotiation of contractual conditions for contract change.
  8. Conducting site weekly meetings with contractors and issuing meeting minutes.
  9. Monitoring delivery schedules, work progress and communicating with customers and suppliers to solve problems.
  10. Collaborating with Engineering Lead, Project Leads, Construction Superintendent, Engineers, and others to ensure project objectives are met.
  11. Contractual change control relating to cost and time; coordinating contractual change management (Change notice, change orders).
  12. Managing change log.
  13. Payment certification and hold back management.
  14. Claims administration and negotiation.
  15. Maintaining various contract registers and as per project specific instructions.
  16. Driving the deliverables and inputs as required from the quantity surveyors.
  17. Ensuring all completed timesheets are filed and tracked.
  18. Contract close-out (Hold back release, certificate of substantial completion, certificate of final completion, Contract close-out, deficiency list close out).
Requirements
  • College Diploma or Certificate in Administration.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a contract administration role, preferably in a mining heavy industrial environment.
  • Previous experience in an administrative function, preferably in a mining or industrial environment.
  • Experience in document control and data management.
  • Possess attention to detail.
  • Experience in contractor management, and project related documentation requirements.
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $110,000 per annum based on experience, skills and qualifications.
