About the Role

Spark Power is seeking a highly skilled Automation Specialist to join our team. As an Automation Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems for industrial equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Control Systems Design: Design and develop control systems for industrial equipment, including PLC and HMI programming.
  • Electrical Systems Installation: Install and commission electrical systems, including VFD and multi-axis servo control systems.
  • Automation and Control: Integrate specialized hardware and software into manufacturing systems to enhance automation and control.
  • Panel Design: Design and create control panels using AUTOCAD.
  • Commissioning and Troubleshooting: Commission and troubleshoot robotic applications and electrical systems.
  • Customer Support: Provide technical support to customers and co-workers on electrical and programming issues.
  • Specifications and Procurement: Assist with specifications for purchase of electrical components.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency service requirements, including participating in a weekend coverage schedule.
  • Technical Support: Provide electrical machine commissioning and technical support on and off-site.
Requirements
  • Experience: 2-5 years of hands-on controls experience.
  • Skills: Proficient in industrial machine controls, electrical systems, PLC and HMI programming, and multi-axis servo systems.
  • CAD Design: Able to create CAD drawings for assembly and wiring control panels and instrumentation.
  • Troubleshooting: Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organization and Problem Solving: Skill in organization and problem-solving.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Production Machine Knowledge: Understanding of production machine and machine tool capabilities.
  • Automation Field Knowledge: Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures related to the automation field.
  • PLC and HMI Programming: Program Allen-Bradley, Omron, and Siemens PLC's and HMI's.
  • Robot Programming: Robot programming and troubleshooting is a plus.
  • Networking and Database: Understanding of networking basics and SQL/DBA experience is a plus.
