Your Role at Baxter:

In this critical position, you will lead the Canadian Depot and Field Service Team, taking technical EHS and policy direction from the Corporate EHS functional team. Your focus will be on improving existing plans, systems, and processes, and driving Environmental, Health, and Safety awareness and best practices among facility and field teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with management and employees to foster a culture that prioritizes safety prevention, awareness, healthy lifestyles, adherence to EH&S laws and regulations, and environmental protection.
  • Proactively identify potential EHS hazards through risk assessments, Gemba walks, inspections, and ensure timely corrective actions are implemented.
  • Organize and administer various employee programs, such as safety and ESD shoes, safety glasses, blood drives, recognition events, etc.
  • Own and maintain EHS policies and procedures in the Quality Management System.
  • Regularly review processes in the Canadian Depots and the Field to ensure EHS principles are being followed.
  • Work with Canadian Field Regional Managers to prevent accidents with the mobile field workforce.
  • Collect data and update the Corporate EHS data base Gensuite Benchmark as required.
  • Primary contact for Canadian regulatory agencies for inspections, permitting, and reporting.
  • Lead all workplace injury investigations and work with leadership to implement related corrective actions.
  • Manage restricted duty and return to work requirements in compliance with Canadian Workers Compensation.
  • Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety requirements, including any department-specific requirements.

Requirements:

  • B.S. Degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of EHS experience, working in manufacturing, servicing of medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or biotechnology.
  • Solid knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety principles.
  • Ability to work both independently and on a team, including leading teams.
  • Self-motivated, strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Good communication, written, and oral skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle a broad range of tasks and priorities simultaneously and work cross-functionally in a highly-matrixed environment.
