Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Operating Room Technician to join our team at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. As an ORT, you will play a vital role in providing nursing care in the intraoperative phase, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest level of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care in the intraoperative phase, including both scrub and circulating roles
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care
  • Utilize critical thinking, problem-solving, and time management skills to adapt to changing situations
  • Lead and participate in conflict resolution and leadership initiatives
  • Contribute to a safe and quality patient-centered care environment
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • Completion of a perioperative nursing course or equivalent OR experience
  • Ability to wear lead apron radiograph protection and personal protective equipment for extended periods
  • Ability to stand scrubbed for hours to support the surgical team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous perioperative nursing experience within the last 5 years
