Your Opportunity:

At Alberta Health Services, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Perioperative Nurse to join our team at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care in our Operating Room.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a multidisciplinary team of Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Perioperative Registered Nurses, ORTs, Respiratory Therapists II, and support staff. As the Ortho Trauma Specialty Nurse, you will be responsible for providing nursing care in the intraoperative phase, including both scrub and circulating roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality patient care in the Operating Room
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care
  • Take a leadership role in promoting quality patient care and implementing operational priorities
  • Act as a clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Previous perioperative nursing experience within the last 5 years
  • Canadian Nurses Association Perioperative CPN(C) Certification
  • Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) member
  • Current ACLS or PALS certification
  • Experience using EPIC
  • Preceptor training experience
