Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Orthopedic Trauma Specialty Nurse to join our team at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care in the intraoperative phase, including both scrub and circulating roles.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Take a leadership role in promoting quality patient care and implementing operational priorities.
  • Act as a role model, clinical resource, and advocate for nursing staff.
  • Assist in providing solutions for complex healthcare issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators, and policy makers.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • Minimum five years' experience in the operating room setting.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Ortho Trauma service.
  • Preference for card experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • Previous perioperative nursing experience within the last 5 years.
  • Canadian Nurses Association Perioperative CPN(C) Certification.
  • Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) member.
  • Current ACLS or PALS certification.
  • Experience using EPIC.
  • Preceptor training experience.
