Job Title: Social Services Worker Diploma Instructor

We are seeking a qualified instructor to teach in our Social Services Worker Diploma program at Northern Lights College.

About the Program

The Social Services Worker Diploma program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and qualifications to work in the human services field. The program involves two years of full-time study, combining practice, theory, and academic course requirements to prepare students for critical practice with an emphasis on advocacy, social justice, and social change.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver courses in the Social Services Worker Diploma program, including SOWK 201, SSWD 120, SSWD 220, and IHSW 104.
  • Represent the program and liaise with the community of Fort St John and beyond.
  • Provide instruction using various delivery modalities.
  • May be required to travel to the Dawson Creek campus when needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Social Services, with a Master's Degree in a closely related discipline.
  • Five years of work experience in a related discipline.
  • Committed to student motivation and achievement.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member through collaborative approaches to course pedagogy.
  • Current and valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Social Services.
  • BC Registered Social Worker (RSW).
  • The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education.
  • Experience teaching at the post-secondary level.
  • Experience with online learner management systems and teaching using various delivery modalities.
  • Experience working in the social service field in rural and remote settings.
  • Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous and international students.
