Your Role

We're seeking a Principal Engineer with expertise in materials development to join our Advanced Materials Lab (AML) in Cambridge, MA. The ideal candidate will have experience with inorganic materials synthesis, analysis, and characterization, as well as design of experiments/statistical methods and database maintenance.

The successful candidate will independently pursue research advancing AML's development of next-generation technologies, working closely with counterparts at Samsung laboratories in Korea. As part of Samsung's advanced research effort, AML engages with academic collaborators and industrial partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field with 20+ years of experience, or Master's with 18+ years of Industry Experience, or 15+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in electrochemical device fabrication, such as cell assembly, cell testing, and data analysis.
  • Expertise in coding skills for robot arm handling.
  • Excellent written communication skills for the preparation of technical papers, patent applications, presentations, application notes, SOPs, and other such documents.
  • An avid learner, you approach challenges with curiosity and resilience, seeking data to help build understanding.
  • You're collaborative, building relationships, humbly offering support and openly welcoming approaches.
  • Innovative and creative, you proactively explore new ideas and adapt quickly to change.

Preferred Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in materials characterization techniques such as Raman Spectroscopy, NMR, XRD, SEM, and TEM.
  • Knowledge of electrochemistry in the aqueous and solid state.
  • Thin film fabrication process.
  • Moisture-sensitive chemistry experience using a glove box is a plus.
  • Experience with high-throughput synthesis techniques such as robotics and large dataset data analysis.

Estimated Salary Range: $180,000 - $220,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
