Civil Engineering Project Specialist

Thurber Engineering Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineering Technologist to join our team in Ontario, Canada.
We are a specialized consulting firm with a focus on geotechnical engineering and materials testing services. Our project work includes transportation, infrastructure, natural hazards, development, and more. We undertake challenging assignments that involve steep terrain, deep foundations, compressible soils, landslides, contamination, or other complications.
As our Civil Engineering Technologist, you will work on varied projects and develop your skills with guidance and mentorship from our senior team.
Responsibilities- Conduct construction inspections and quality control/assurance testing for various infrastructure and transportation projects;
- Perform field compaction testing of soils;
- Carry out laboratory testing on soils and concrete;
- Conduct field concrete testing as per CSA requirements;
- Monitor pile construction for driven steel and cast-in-place concrete piles;
- Liaise with project engineers and client's site representatives;
- Travel to construction sites as required.
- Completion of a College program in Civil Engineering Technology;
- 1-2 years of work experience in construction materials testing;
- Registration with OACETT or immediate eligibility;
- Concrete Testing Certificate from CCIL is an asset;
- Strong computer skills (i.e., spreadsheet and word-processing);
- Proficiency with spoken and written English;
- Shift work may be required depending on workload;
- A valid Class G Driver's license is necessary.
