Job Summary:

The Technical Training Specialist will be responsible for designing and implementing training programs for various employees on a range of topics. This includes field training and the development and delivery of courses by both internal and external sources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage training programs while demonstrating a strong focus on safety.
  • Conduct on-job training and field observations.
  • Lead groups of Journeyman and Apprentice PLTs in classroom and practical training sessions.
  • Work with customers to identify, develop, and deliver training programs.
  • Coordinate with vendors to develop and deliver curriculum that meets company needs.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to develop courses.
  • Train SMEs on program delivery and provide feedback on the effectiveness of their classes.
  • Assist Work Methods and Safety in the development, maintenance, and training of company standards and procedures.
  • Support Operations Managers and field staff on technical and training issues.
  • Review and evaluate the effectiveness of existing training programs and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Continuously update training materials to reflect changes in regulations, standards, technology, and audience.

Requirements:

  • A Journeyman Power Line Technician certificate plus a minimum of five (5) years of field work experience as a journeyman is required.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's permit is required.
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology would be considered an asset.
  • Certificate in Adult and Continuing Education (CACE) would be a definite asset.
  • A Journeyman Power Systems Electrician certificate would be an asset.
  • Current Substation Switching certificate would be an asset.
  • Current System Switching certificate would be an asset.

  • This has been identified as a safety-sensitive position. All successful candidates will be subject to a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
