Job Title: Recreation Therapist

Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full-time, temporary Recreation Therapist to support the Child, Youth and Emerging Adult Program (CYEAP) within Child, Youth and Family Services (CYFS).

Job Summary

The Recreation Therapist will work with the interdisciplinary team to provide care to clients from diverse backgrounds, promoting a holistic leisure lifestyle addressing their social, physical, spiritual, emotional, and cognitive needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, plan, facilitate, schedule, organize, and implement various therapeutic recreation programs
  • Conduct assessments, develop individual recreation plans, and complete patient documentation
  • Provide skill instruction, develop program goals and objectives, and evaluate individual and group recreation programs
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe environment for youth and staff
  • Support program development and research and educational activities of the service
Requirements

The successful candidate will possess a Degree/Diploma in Recreation/Recreation Therapy or a Post Graduate Certificate in Recreation Therapy, along with one year of experience combined with a good working knowledge of therapeutic recreation principles and practices.

Eligibility for Registration with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO) is required, and membership in good standing with TRO is preferred.

Experience working as a Recreationist with clients who have an addiction and/or mental illness is preferred, as well as knowledge of addictions and mental health.

The incumbent must have the ability to work flexible hours, including some evening and weekend hours, and bilingualism (English/French) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
