Job Overview

We are seeking a senior heritage advisor to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of municipal government and be able to interpret policies and regulations of the Ontario Heritage Act, the Parks Canada Standards and Guidelines for Historic Places, the Planning Act, the Provincial Policy Statement, and other applicable municipal and provincial legislation.

Key Qualifications
  • 4-year undergraduate degree in planning, geography, urban studies, or similar with a specialty in cultural heritage.
  • Master's degree an asset.
  • Three years' experience in planning in a heritage context.
  • Membership in or eligibility for full membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI).
  • Excellent understanding of municipal government with a well-developed ability to interpret policies and regulations of the Ontario Heritage Act, the Parks Canada Standards and Guidelines for Historic Places, the Planning Act, the Provincial Policy Statement, and other applicable municipal and provincial legislation.
