About the Role
The 3rd Class Stationary Engineer will perform operational work in a central heating and cooling plant, reporting to the 1st Class Stationary Engineer. BGIS provides certified and trained Operating Engineers to manage, operate, and maintain various registered central heating and cooling plants.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heating and cooling plant equipment and systems, including boilers, chillers, generators, and distribution systems.
- Conduct tests on mechanical equipment and water samples to ensure reliability and determine chemical concentrations.
- Prepare work orders and documents, compile operational data, and write reports with recommendations.
- Work with computer software programs and conduct standardized tests to determine chemical concentrations in water.
- Perform seasonal maintenance on plant equipment and use hand and power tools as needed.
- Record information in a written shift log and prepare reports, complete forms, and describe mechanical problems to colleagues.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience at the Class 3 level.
- Significant knowledge of heating and cooling plant equipment and systems.
- Knowledge of testing methods, administrative practices, and federal and provincial regulations.
- Ability to start up and shut down large oil and gas fired boilers and generators.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting activities.
