About the Role
The 3rd Class Stationary Engineer plays a crucial part in the operation of central heating and cooling plants, ensuring the delivery of safe and continuous temperature control to clients. This role requires significant knowledge of heating and cooling plant equipment and systems, including boilers, chillers, generators, and distribution systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heating and cooling plant equipment, including boilers, chillers, and generators, to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
- Conduct tests on mechanical equipment and water samples to determine chemical concentrations and ensure the reliability of plant equipment.
- Prepare work orders and documents, compile operational data for monthly reports, and write reports with recommendations to management.
- Work with a variety of computer software programs to manage plant operations and maintain records.
- Perform seasonal maintenance on plant equipment, repair and overhaul operating plant and distribution systems equipment, and use hand and power tools as needed.
- Record information in a written shift log and prepare reports, complete various forms, time sheets, travel claims, and procurement documents.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience at the Class 3 level.
- Significant knowledge of heating and cooling plant equipment and systems.
- Knowledge of testing methods to carry out tests on mechanical equipment and water samples.
- Knowledge of administrative practices to prepare work orders and documents.
- General knowledge of federal and provincial regulations related to environmental standards and occupational health and safety in plant operations.
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
- 3rd class Stationary Engineer certification.
