Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect optical solutions, including new hardware configurations and features, to provide customers with improved functionality, robustness, ease of use, and optical performance.
  • Author the Product Specification Agreement, detailing high-level requirements for new features or architecture, to enable other teams to derive detailed implementation details.
  • Generate creative ideas and solutions, weighing acceptable trade-offs against complexity.
  • Assist with complex and urgent field issues escalated from the support organization.
  • Mentor junior team members.
  • Interface and influence various teams, including product verification, hardware and software design, product support, and higher-level application development.
  • Present complex information to customers and executives, distilling it down to a manageable level.
  • Apply optical link budgeting to new designs.
  • Familiarize yourself with YANG data model structures and NBI.
  • Knowledge of network planning and/or optical planning tools is an asset.
  • Knowledge of control loop design is an asset.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a relevant engineering or physics degree.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant industrial experience.
  • Full-time position based in Ottawa.

Compensation:

The annual salary range for this position is $90,800 to $145,000 CAD. Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
