Job Overview

This Healthcare Support Specialist opportunity is available with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority in Notre Dame de Lourdes. The successful candidate will work as a UHCA during the duration of the Bridging Program, assisting with resident care and providing basic supportive care.

About the Role

Under the general supervision of the Manager, RN, RPN, and/or LPN, this Healthcare Support Specialist will work with all members of the health care team to provide high-quality care to residents. The role requires proficiency in both official languages (English/French), completion of an approved 7-day Health Care Support Worker micro-credential course or equivalent, and a minimum of 300 paid hours as a UHCA in the preceding 12 months.

Responsibilities
  • Assist residents in maintaining activities of daily living (ADL) such as walking, bathing, feeding, etc.
  • Provide support and assistance to members of the health care team, including certified Health Care Aides within their ability, competence, and training.
  • Monitor wandering residents as assigned.
  • Respond promptly to resident calls, ensuring call bells are within resident reach.
  • Transport residents as required.
  • Provide relevant patient information to the health care team to assist in care planning.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in both official languages (English/French).
  • Completed a minimum of 300 paid hours as a UHCA in the preceding 12 months.
  • Certification in an approved HCA Bridging Program.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to complete a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check. They must also have a valid Class 5 driver's license and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00, if required by program area.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary, estimated at around $26.44/hour for approximately 63% FTE, which translates to a $32,447/year gross salary, not including benefits and overtime.
