Job Description

This Caregiver role is responsible for providing basic supportive care to residents in a long-term care facility. The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of a Manager, RN, RPN, and/or LPN, and will be expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities and methods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide basic supportive care to residents, including assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as walking, bathing, feeding, etc.
  • Assist residents to maintain adequate rest and activity, including responding promptly to resident calls and ensuring call bells are within resident reach.
  • Transport residents as required, and provide physical support during transfers and lifts.
  • Monitor wandering residents and respond to their needs in a timely manner.
  • Participate in care planning and reporting, and contribute to a positive and respectful work environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Proficiency in both official languages (English/French)
  • Successful completion of an approved 7-day Health Care Support Worker micro-credential course or equivalent
  • A minimum of 300 paid hours as a UHCA in the preceding 12 months
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy equipment and supplies
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
