The Production Supervisor at CN is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring work is performed within company standards, and fostering a safe and efficient work environment. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical knowledge of engineering and track standards, and the ability to handle complex issues and problems.
Main Responsibilities- Supervise assigned employees, providing coaching and feedback to ensure optimal performance and adherence to safety protocols.
- Conduct investigations, recommend disciplinary actions, and respond to grievances in a fair and timely manner.
- Provide technical and field training to production gang employees, focusing on safety, quality control, and productivity.
- Develop and implement safety compliance initiatives, conducting regular efficiency testing and safety walkabouts to identify areas for improvement.
- Manage budgets, workforce productivity, and manpower within company policies and guidelines.
- Collaborate with Transportation to coordinate track time and ensure seamless rail operations.
The Production Supervisor will work in a partially office-based environment, with regular outdoor assignments in various weather conditions and environmental settings. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Frequent travel (70%-90%) is expected, with overnight stays and potential for on-call duties.
Requirements- Minimum 5 years of railroad experience, with a focus on safety compliance and operational management.
- Strong knowledge of engineering track standards, operation measures, and track structure, construction, and maintenance.
- Experience with SAP and Track Inspection System (TIS), as well as troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet medical fitness for duty requirements.
- USOR qualified and committed to upholding CN's safety and security protocols.
