**Leadership Role at Island Health**
The Medical Director, Family Practice Division, oversees the In-Patient MRP Program at Island Health, a key component of our organization's commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
This leadership position involves a collaborative approach, working closely with other healthcare professionals to enhance teamwork and facilitate continuous quality improvement services.
The Medical Director reports to the Interim Site Medical Director and is responsible for leading activities to ensure physicians and staff work together to monitor and improve service delivery.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Leadership:** Co-lead activities to ensure physicians and staff work together to monitor and improve service delivery, linking with Division Heads and Chiefs of Staff to address matters of physician governance.
- **Operations & Quality:** Implement processes and structures to engage physicians and staff in continuous quality improvement of service delivery, monitoring team budget and performance, and making course corrections as needed.
- **Change Management:** Act as a change management champion to engage and support physicians and staff through change.
- **Informatics:** Lead team activities that advance technology and data use to improve service delivery using electronic health records in collaboration with the Quality Systems team.
- **Planning:** Assess, monitor, and anticipate team resource needs, working with medical leaders and administrative leaders to prioritize these needs within available resources.
**Division Head Responsibilities:**
- **Credentialing and Privileging:** Oversee the credentialing and privileging process for physicians and staff.
- **Individual Practitioner Standards of Care:** Ensure that individual practitioners meet the highest standards of care.
- **Professional Development:** Foster a culture of ongoing learning and professional development for physicians and staff.
- **Professional Behavior:** Promote a culture of respect, empathy, and professionalism among physicians and staff.
- **Medical Workforce Planning and Recruitment:** Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain top talent in the medical field.
