We are seeking a skilled and licensed truck driver to join our team in Brockville. As a key member of our operations, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient collection of waste.

This is a union role with competitive pay and benefits. The estimated salary for this position is $26.26 per hour.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a heavy-duty truck on swing routes, ensuring that all duties are completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate vehicle in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements, maintaining a clean and safe vehicle at all times.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle using a standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report), noting any issues for corrective review/repair.
  • Report any unsafe situations or service calls to the Route Manager or Dispatch before attempting service.
  • Participate in scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required by the Route Manager.
  • Work closely with the Route Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify problem or unsafe accounts.
  • Perform all duties as scheduled by the Route Manager or Dispatch, assisting other company drivers as directed.
  • Notify the Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  • Communicate customer requests or issues to Dispatch or Route Manager.
  • Position containers on the customer's property in a manner that ensures lids are properly replaced, containers are set in an upright position, and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
Requirements
  • Hold a current DZ or Class 3 license or higher with an air-brake endorsement.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check, which will include previous employment check, and motor vehicle record review.
  • Acceptable driving record required.
  • No education required, but a willingness to learn and take on various tasks is essential.
