Job Summary

As a Clinical Information Resource Specialist I with the Poison and Drug Information Service (PADIS) team at Alberta Health Services, you will provide expert consultative services regarding poison and toxicology, and occupational toxicology via telephone to both the public and health care professionals. In this role, you will extract, interpret, and summarize the most up-to-date medical resources and latest research when providing information, treatment options and recommendations about exposure to poisons, chemicals or toxins, prescription and over the counter medications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultative services regarding poison and toxicology, and occupational toxicology via telephone to both the public and health care professionals.
  • Extract, interpret, and summarize the most up-to-date medical resources and latest research when providing information, treatment options and recommendations about exposure to poisons, chemicals or toxins, prescription and over the counter medications.
  • Work collaboratively with team members, peers and both internal and external stakeholders to build and foster reciprocal relationships and build consensus.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of pharmacy and clinical assessment skills.
  • Provide peer feedback and mentor and coach staff.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree in pharmacy or nursing.
  • Current registration in good standing with the applicable college.
  • Emergency/ICU or critical care nursing experience and/or drug information background.
  • 3 years hospital or clinical pharmacy experience required within the last 5 years for pharmacists.
  • 3 years Acute Care experience required within the last 5 years for registered nurses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Specialist in Poison Information (CSPI) designation.
  • Intermediate computer skills and literacy.
