Job Summary:
The Clinical Information Resource Specialist I provides consultative services and advice in poison and toxicology via telephone to both the public and healthcare professionals in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories. This role may also involve providing information related to occupational toxicology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert consultative services regarding poison and toxicology, and occupational toxicology via telephone to both the public and healthcare professionals.
- Extract, interpret, and summarize the most up-to-date medical resources and latest research when providing information, treatment options, and recommendations about exposure to poisons, chemicals, or toxins, prescription and over-the-counter medications.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Manager to develop and implement strategies for providing consultative services and advice in poison and toxicology.
- Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals, poison control centers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research, guidelines, and best practices in poison and toxicology to provide accurate and reliable information to clients.
Requirements:
- Completion of a bachelor's degree in Nursing or Pharmacy.
- Active or eligible for registration with the applicable college.
- Emergency/ICU or critical care nursing experience and/or drug information background.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong clinical assessment skills and working knowledge of pharmacy.
- Proven ability to build and foster reciprocal relationships and build consensus.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with team members, peers, and both internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated independence.
- Emergency and/or Critical Care experience for registered nurses, preferably within the last 5 years.
