Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Environmental Resources Specialist to join our team at Seabird Island Band. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in researching and responding to referrals related to natural resources and environmental impacts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and analysis on environmental and natural resource issues, including climate change mitigation and preparedness, forestry, and traditional land use.
  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement and communication plans to ensure effective collaboration with community members, stakeholders, and government agencies.
  • Prepare and present scientific reports and presentations to stakeholders, including community members, government agencies, and industry partners.
  • Assist with forestry referrals, ensuring that strategies and communications align with the band's objectives for land use and resource conservation.
  • Support initiatives that contribute to climate change mitigation and sustain the ecological integrity of both reserve and off-reserve lands.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental studies or a related field.
  • Proficient computer skills with the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Proficient interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to work well with multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Experience in community engagement or consultative processes is an asset.
