Claims Adjuster, Auto Physical Damage Specialist

The Auto Physical Damage Claims Adjuster plays a crucial role in delivering an exceptional member experience by ensuring the fair and equitable adjustment of low complexity auto physical damage claims. This position is responsible for applying and explaining policy coverages, documenting claim files, and providing timely service and prompt management of claims from initial report to conclusion.
Key Responsibilities- Provide exceptional service to members throughout the claims process, demonstrating empathy and concern for their satisfaction.
- Ensure timely and proactive communication with members, using various channels to effectively address their inquiries.
- Adjust low complexity auto physical damage claims, ensuring accurate and fair outcomes.
- Review and interpret policy wordings, determine policy coverage, and communicate coverage decisions to members.
- Establish timely and accurate loss and expense reserves through the life of the claim, evaluating relevant information from various sources.
- Conduct comprehensive investigations to determine coverages and liability, adhering to Wawanesa's adjusting guidelines and recognizing when to engage internal and external resources.
- Collaborate with vendors, such as appraisers, rental companies, and repair facilities, to coordinate services and ensure seamless claim resolution.
- Negotiate and convey claim settlements within authority limits, communicating decisions promptly and effectively while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
- Maintain an effective diary system and document claim file activities in accordance with established procedures.
- Stay up-to-date with legislative changes and trends in the insurance industry, ensuring compliance with all provincial requirements.
- Support the Catastrophic Auto Program as necessary, including assisting on claims outside of your service area.
- Exceptional customer service skills, demonstrating empathy and concern for member satisfaction.
- Minimum 1 year of insurance experience preferred.
- Bilingual in English and French is an asset.
- Post-secondary degree is preferred.
- Willingsness to work toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation and where required, dedicated to reach the proper licensing requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, including listening, written, and spoken.
- Good investigative and analytical skills, with a high degree of accuracy regarding data entry.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Good negotiation, decision-making, and critical thinking skills, as well as a willingness to improve.
- Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with others.
