Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Dispatcher/Router to join our team at Waste Management. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for communicating with drivers, handling service orders, and resolving customer issues in a timely and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with routing specialists and route managers to optimize complex routes and ensure efficient service delivery
  • Dispatch drivers to calls, using information on customer needs, driver locations, and daily factors to balance cost and speed of response
  • Field incoming calls from customers and manage requests for pick-up or container delivery, ensuring same-day service
  • Initiate outbound calls to customers while drivers are on-site, resolving pick-up and other issues
  • Troubleshoot and resolve potential delivery and pick-up problems before they result in service issues
  • Record and document information from drivers and distribute to appropriate departments
  • Communicate with maintenance shop personnel and serve as an emergency point of contact for down wires and other issues
  • Coordinate projects and tasks as necessary, and delegate work in the manager's absence
  • Serve as an escalation point for other dispatchers in the department and train new dispatchers
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or specialized training in transportation, logistics, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of two years of previous dispatching experience, with a strong understanding of transportation and logistics principles
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in computer software applications, including proprietary systems used by Waste Management
