Job Summary

Fraser Health is seeking a skilled Immunization Nurse Specialist to join our team. As an integral member of our Public Health Services team, you will provide immunization services within the framework of the Population Health/Health Promotion Model.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate immunization services for individuals, families, groups, and communities in various settings.
  • Work collaboratively with the Public Health Nurse to conduct immunization clinics, assessing needs, establishing informed consent, preparing and administering injections, and observing and responding to reactions.
  • Advise clients on adverse reactions and contraindications, provide after-care instructions, and complete immunization records.
  • Ensure cold chain procedures are followed in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Establish effective working relationships and partnerships with other professions, community members, agencies, and schools.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives, providing input into the review and revision of immunization policies and procedures.
  • Provide formal presentations and educational programs for selected population groups via telephone, one-on-one, and group settings.
  • Act as a preceptor or mentor to assigned new nursing staff and students.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an approved School of Nursing.
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Six months of recent related nursing experience providing immunization services or clinical experience, including assessing and treating infants, children, and youth.
  • Valid British Columbia driver's license.
  • Personal vehicle for work-related purposes.
