IWK Health, a renowned academic health sciences centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, seeks a skilled Biomedical Equipment Specialist to join its team. This exciting opportunity involves working with medical and support devices used throughout the facility.

This permanent hourly full-time position offers a competitive salary of $28.8891 - $38.6668 per hour, making it an attractive career choice for professionals seeking a stable and well-compensated role.

The ideal candidate will possess a graduate degree from an accredited Biomedical or Electronic Engineering Technology program and be registered as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with TechNova or eligible for registration.

In addition to their technical expertise, the successful applicant will demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, as well as strong troubleshooting abilities related to electronic and mechanical medical equipment.

Key responsibilities include preventative maintenance, setup, install, test, troubleshoot, repair, modify, and maintain medical equipment according to accepted policies, procedures, standards, and specifications.

The selected candidate will also be required to perform pre-purchase evaluation and follow-up of new equipment, provide technical guidance and assistance to patients and staff, and document services provided according to departmental policies and procedures.

Please note that this is a unionized position within the Support bargaining unit, and preference is given to bargaining unit employees for these roles.
