Job Title: People Services Specialist

New Flyer is a leading manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses in North America, with a strong commitment to safety, accessibility, and reliability. We are seeking a highly skilled People Services Specialist to join our Human Resources team.

Job Summary:

The People Services Specialist will provide critical support in all areas of disability case management, including attendance management, coordination of occupational and non-occupational accidents/injuries, and return to work programs. This role will also be responsible for continually improving New Flyer's Claims management performance through the development and implementation of programs focused on prevention.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Track and report WCB, STD, LTD, and MPIC claims management, creating and distributing reports as needed.
  • Accurately complete and submit all documentation for claims processing and status changes in monitoring systems.
  • Provide guidance on disability management issues and employee claims status.
  • Liaise with the medical community, WCB, MPIC, and STD/LTD providers on claim information and return to work conditions.
  • Work closely with employees and management to coordinate and facilitate successful return to work programs.
  • Coordinate and administer attendance management programs and policies, communicating and providing guidance as needed.
  • Collaborate with leadership and unions to promote good employee relations in support of attendance and claims management programs and strategies.
  • Provide advice and guidance to employees and leadership on disability, health, wellness education, employee and labor relations, harassment/conflicts, and progressive discipline issues.
Requirements:
  • Certificate or diploma in Human Resources Management, Return to Work Coordinator, Certified Disability Management Professional, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-3 years' experience in a Human Resources role with a focus on employee relations, disability case management, and return to work programs.
  • Excellent knowledge of HR laws and regulations, disability management principles, Occupational Health and Safety, and Worker's Compensation Legislation.
  • Strong decision-making, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to converse in a professional manner and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
  • Motivated self-starter with capabilities to work within a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
