Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing professional practical nursing services to designated patients, including independent nursing services, administration of prescribed medical treatments, collaboration and interaction within the healthcare team, and participation in the coordination of patient care and discharge.

Responsibilities
  • Provide independent nursing services to patients, including administering medications, performing treatments, and providing wound care.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Administer prescribed medical treatments, including medications and therapies.
  • Participate in the coordination of patient care and discharge, including communicating with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager of Patient Care.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nursing Education program.
  • Current certification in IV Therapy and IV Medication Administration.
  • Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM).
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with WRHA policy.
  • Knowledge of the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Licensed Practical Nurses, College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba Code of Ethics for Licensed Practical Nurses, and Scope of practice as documented in the Licensed Practical Nurses Act.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Ability to prioritize care for an individual patient or group of patients and delegate care appropriately.
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands and adapt quickly to changing situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the applicable clinical area.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and values.
  • Ability to speak an Indigenous language.
