Job Title: Executive Sous Chef

West Coast Grill Sooke is seeking an experienced Executive Sous Chef to join our team. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and service.

Job Summary:
  • Lead and manage a team of cooks and kitchen staff to ensure efficient and effective food preparation and service.
  • Develop and implement menus, recipes, and cooking techniques to meet the needs of our customers.
  • Monitor and control food costs, inventory, and labor expenses to ensure profitability.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to plan and execute special events, banquets, and catering services.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory.
  • Analyze operating costs and other data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement new recipes and cooking techniques to enhance menu offerings.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff to ensure high standards of food preparation and presentation.
  • Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events and functions.
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies to ensure adequate inventory levels.
  • Consult with clients to plan and execute special events and functions.
Requirements:
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent position.
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy loads.
