Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Rehabilitation Mechanical Specialist to join our team at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert mechanical services to support the rehabilitation needs of our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct clinical service delivery to patients, including assessment, treatment, and education.
  • Document all clinical service delivery, including patient progress and outcomes.
  • Contribute to education and research initiatives, staying up-to-date with the latest developments in rehabilitation technology.
  • Ensure a safe working environment, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
Requirements
  • Experience in welding and sheet metal fabrication is essential, with a strong background in automotive repairs and adaptation a plus.
  • Proficiency in operating a variety of machine shop equipment, including lathes, milling machines, and metal bending equipment.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of materials, including ABS, polyurethane, steel, aluminum, and wood.
  • Experience working with disabled persons and assessing and solving problems related to wheelchair seating is preferred.
Education and Certification
  • High school education or equivalent is required, with a Certified Red Seal Machinist certification and a minimum of 3 years of journeyperson experience.
  • A 2-year Manufacturing Technician Diploma or 1-year Precision Metal Machining Certificate is preferred.
  • Certificate of qualification in trade of machinist and valid Manitoba driver's license are required.
Skills and Qualities
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under stress, adapt to a busy environment, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in word processing, email, and basic knowledge of mastercam X Software.
