Position Summary
The Rehabilitation Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting with both direct and indirect patient care tasks, as well as non-patient related responsibilities as assigned by the Therapist or Manager. This position involves various departmental duties including transporting patients, preparing necessary equipment, and ensuring treatment areas, equipment, and supplies are well-maintained.
Experience
- Prior experience in a rehabilitation setting is preferred.
Education Requirements
- A minimum of Grade 12 education is required.
- A recognized Rehabilitation Aide certificate is mandatory.
- Consideration may be given to candidates pursuing a degree in Physiotherapy (PT) or Occupational Therapy (OT), as well as to internationally trained graduates in OT or PT.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
- A courteous and cooperative demeanor is necessary.
- Ability to work independently within assigned responsibilities.
- Willingness to adapt to ongoing changes.
- Demonstrates proper body mechanics and transfer techniques.
- Maintains discretion and confidentiality regarding all hospital and patient-related matters.
Physical Requirements
- Must possess good physical and mental health to fulfill the demands of the position.
- May be required to work extended hours.
- Potential exposure to various health risks, including disease, radiation, toxic materials, noise, and allergens.
- May encounter individuals who are aggressive or agitated.
