Job Summary
The Commercial Building Operations Specialist will provide operational and technical support as a member of a building operations team. This role involves ensuring the assigned building or complex of buildings is managed and maintained in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Assisting building supervisors, maintenance mechanics, and building superintendents with installation and repair of mechanical systems;
- Installing, repairing, and maintaining climate control and other mechanical systems within a building or portfolio;
- Oversight of preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, lighting, electrical, elevating devices, roofing, and life safety systems;
- General maintenance including housekeeping such as sweeping, litter pick up, shoveling, and pressure washing;
- Assisting with environmental assessments and reporting;
- Participating in corporate occupational health and safety programs;
- Assisting with waste, recycling, and hazardous materials issues;
- Monitoring computerized control systems;
- Responding to tenant service requests;
- Assisting with insurance and risk management inspections, remedial actions, and reporting;
- Remaining current and up-to-date with new industry practices, legislative changes, and new technologies;
- Other assigned duties.

Qualifications
The Commercial Building Operations Specialist shall have the following technical qualifications or industry equivalency:
- 4th Class Power Engineer (or equivalent);
- A minimum of 3 years' direct work experience in junior or intermediate positions in commercial high-rise building operations;
- A valid driver's license;
- Intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Office.
This role requires excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be able to allocate time efficiently, manage tight deadlines, and achieve quality results. They should also be adaptable to new ideas and willing to learn from experiences.
The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
