Job Title: Ward Clerk

Alexandra Hospital Ingersoll is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ward Clerk to join our Clinical Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately enter orders into our electronic medical record system.
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff to ensure timely completion of orders.
  • Transcribe medication orders accurately and document them in the patient's medical record.
  • Process requisitions for testing and communicate with physicians to clarify orders.
  • Document physician orders in the patient's care plan and enter referrals in our electronic system.
  • Fill out requisitions and fax them to other hospitals or doctor's offices as required.
  • Provide accurate documentation on patient care plans and obtain necessary consents for tests.
  • Communicate politely and respectfully with physicians, nurses, patients, and other hospital staff.
  • Answer phone calls and provide administrative support as needed.
  • Assist with scheduling ambulance transfers and obtain necessary supplies.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
  • Medical Office Assistant (1 year program certificate) or equivalent.
  • Medical terminology knowledge.
  • Proven experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to promote open communication among departments.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Salary according to the Non-Union Salary Schedule.
