Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse / Wellness Nurse to join our team in the Greater Sudbury Area. This is a full-time or part-time position that offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $33- $37 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality patient care, adhering to the Practice Standards set out by the Ontario College of Nurses.
  • Administer medications, perform various medical procedures, and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Conduct health assessments, identify health risks, and provide education to patients and their families.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, infection prevention and control, and ongoing staff training.

Requirements:

  • Graduate from an approved School of Nursing (Registered Practical Nursing Program) or Registered Nursing Program, with a current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Theoretical and applied knowledge of the Practice Standards set out by the Ontario College of Nurses.
  • Relevant experience working within the full scope of practice, including medication administration, within the last two years.
  • Completion of RPN standardization (all modules) required.
  • Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps training certificate is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Meditech Client Service OE, and GRASP software.
  • Knowledgeable about community support services, home and community care, rehabilitative services, adult day programs, and other social services.
  • Effective team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to work cooperatively with staff, patients, physicians, volunteers, and the public.
  • Skilled in using patient care equipment.
  • Familiar with Ontario Hospital Association/Medical Association Communicable Disease Surveillance Protocols.
  • Able to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Compliant with HSNs privacy policy and committed to the safety of co-workers and patients.
  • Works well independently and under pressure.
  • Relates well to staff, residents, and families with patience, tolerance, and confidentiality.
  • Maintains a positive work and attendance record.
  • Uses tact and discretion with healthcare providers and employees.
  • Committed to ongoing professional development and handles confidential issues professionally.
  • Capable of meeting the physical and sensory demands of the job.
  • Empathetic and understanding of the needs of the elderly and disabled.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (within 6 months of employment start date) and TB testing required.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
