About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Nova Scotia Community College. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our campus facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and special cleaning duties to maintain a safe and hygienic environment
  • Operate waxing and polishing machines, automatic scrubbers, and other equipment as required
  • Assist with routine painting duties, room rental setups, and other related tasks
  • Work collaboratively with the Facilities Manager to ensure seamless operations

Requirements

  • High school diploma or recognized equivalent (GED)
  • Minimum one year's experience as a cleaner, including operation of waxing and polishing machines and automatic scrubbers
  • Training in WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to interact effectively with diverse groups
  • Superior customer service skills, with ability to create trust beyond immediate interaction
  • Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, with ability to contribute positively to a team environment
