About the Role

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly skilled Building Operator 3 to join our team at the Museum of Industry. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our building and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and supervise regular maintenance inspections of building equipment, including boilers, chillers, air handling units, pumps, and exhaust fans.
  • Direct the scheduling, maintenance, and management of all heating, ventilation, air conditioning, water, electric, and other systems to ensure efficient operation.
  • Identify potential problems, determine solutions, and perform minor carpentry, electrical, and plumbing repairs.
  • Administer Building Services' policies and procedures, including building rules and regulations, evacuation procedures, fire safety plan, security protocols, and signage policy.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with other divisions, project teams, departments, consultants, and contractors.
  • Manage secure card access security software systems and respond to security threats.
Requirements
  • Five (5) years related experience and 4th Class Power Engineer (equivalency of experience and a Second Class Refrigeration Certification) is required.
  • Certification in Facilities Management of Building Sciences, such as Buildings Systems Technician Diploma (HVAC & R), Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA), Building Environment Systems (BES), International Facility Management Association (IFMA), Journeyman in Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, or Construction Safety Supervisor Certification.
  • Valid motor vehicle license and experience in serving the public and forklift operation are considered assets.
