The estimated annual salary for this role is $120,000 to $180,000 CAD, based on industry standards and the cost of living in Toronto.

Job Description

This position reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for overseeing all financial matters of the company.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing hands-on leadership, guidance, and mentorship to finance staff
  • Ensuring the finance organization is structured and sized to meet business needs
  • Overseeing accounting, tax, insurance, budget, credit, and treasury functions
  • Managing relationships with audit firms and ensuring compliance with securities and statutory reporting requirements
  • Developing and implementing strategic business plans, budgets, and forecasts

The ideal candidate will have:

Commercial Acumen

A deep understanding of commercial and financial principles, with the ability to apply them effectively

An ability to foster a sense of team spirit and harmonious relations within the finance team

Planning & Objective Setting

A systematic approach to work, with realistic time scales and effective controls

Effective Communicator

Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey strategy and vision to stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 10-15 years of senior financial management experience, preferably in a publicly traded company
  • Experience managing a finance department and directing all activities involved in financial stewardship
  • Hands-on experience working in fast-paced, dynamic, and early-stage technology companies
  • A track record of success in negotiations, acquisitions, and integration
