About the Role

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Scheduler/Coordinator to join our Home Support team in Vancouver, BC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and coordinate Home Support Service schedules by preparing and adjusting schedules in accordance with care plans and applicable collective agreement.
  • Communicate with and schedule Community Health Workers and designated Home Support Staff and maintains timekeeping records.
  • Respond to inquiries related to the delivery of Home Support Services.
  • Exhibit proficiency in the use of Home Support scheduling software and acts as the Super User to respond to questions and provide assistance to team members as needed.
  • Determine orientation and training requirements and provide orientation/training for new staff.
  • Utilize on-line systems and/or completes appropriate documentation to process employee transactions such as employment requisitions, transfers, requests for vacation, leaves of absence and terminations.
  • Participate in project work related to Home Support and Scheduling by coordinating the completion of project steps and tracking and reporting on status.
  • Assist in the development, standardization, roll out, implementation, education and ongoing maintenance of standard operating procedures, policies and other related documents.
Requirements
  • Grade 12, plus three years' recent related experience supervising, coordinating, preparing and adjusting home support schedules and performing administrative functions related to scheduling and the dispatch environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to keyboard 5000 keystrokes per hour.
  • Working knowledge of applicable collective agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressures, to multi-task, to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to supervise.
  • Ability to prioritize work.
  • Ability to schedule Home Support Workers for client visits.
  • Ability to take initiative, anticipate potential problems/conflicts and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to establish/maintain satisfactory work relationships with staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Proficiency in the application of software programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated skill in respectful, diplomatic and tactful communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm when communicating in difficult situations.
