This role involves providing support in an alternate setting, collaborating on a land-based learning program for Grade 11 and 12 students. The interdisciplinary program integrates numeracy and literacy with cultural and land-based education.
Main Responsibilities- Be a positive role model and student advocate.
- Encourage meaningful connections to the land, culture, and community while supporting students' academic growth and personal development.
- Provide individual and/or small group support to Indigenous and self-identified students.
- Be accountable for self, students, and teachings.
- Work collaboratively with the ISW team, classroom teacher, and school administration.
- Join students in their activities, enhancing connections and modeling the experience.
The ideal candidate will have:
- One year of related experience with local cultural knowledge.
- A strong ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with school administrators, teachers, and staff.
- Motivated self-starter with good time management and strong interpersonal skills.
