We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Senior Indigenous Relations Specialist – British Columbia. In this role, you will be responsible for managing our organization's approach to Indigenous community engagement and relationship management initiatives in the BC region.

As a key member of our team, you will work closely with operational and functional services leadership across the BC region to deliver on Indigenous relations goals. You will engage and collaborate with local, regional, and national leaders in Indigenous engagement to inform strategy and practice.

You will have the opportunity to build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous leadership and communities in the BC Region, while also acting as a central coordination point for the navigation of relationships and partnerships between Stantec and Indigenous communities and businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements Indigenous related participation and engagement plans, as required.
  • Identifies, tracks, and monitors issues, concerns, and interests identified by Indigenous groups.
  • Supports Stantec practitioners to develop effective, respectful and sustainable relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations and businesses.

Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of the history and present-day context of Indigenous Peoples in British Columbia and other jurisdictions in Canada, including governments and organizations.
  • Experience with Indigenous knowledge systems and worldviews.
  • Demonstrated experience in Indigenous Relations program development, implementation and management, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative environment.
