Job Opportunity: Hydraulic Pump Specialist

We seek an experienced Hydraulic Pump Specialist to join our team. This role requires expertise in hydraulic design and analysis, with a focus on centrifugal and reciprocating pumps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review customer purchase orders and design specifications to determine project requirements.
  • Analyze historical test results to ensure impeller and casing volute designs meet customer needs.
  • Establish hydraulic modifications to achieve as-sold performance parameters.
  • Collaborate with the Tendering/Advance Engineering group to capture performance parameters at the order entry stage.
  • Define performance, NPSH, and mechanical run test requirements, including shop setup and equipment recommendations.
  • Evaluate historical bad actors versus tendered pump selections.
  • Improve first-time pass rates for pumps.
  • Perform hydraulic checks and calculations to ensure product safety and performance.
  • Manage creation of hydraulic drawings and customer documents.
  • Create Hydraulic Review and Hydraulic Traveller documents, along with BOM and Test clarification notes.
  • Work under Senior Hydraulic Engineers' guidance and collaborate with other functions to achieve project deliverables.
  • Support the Test Department by reviewing results, providing revised instructions, and disposing of NCRs.
  • Contribute to CARs, VAVE Projects, or design centre activities as required.
  • Maintain hydraulic/test design compliance with international standards.
  • Interface with downstream activities post-design phase (shop-floor, test, commissioning, and warranty).
  • Investigate root cause of hydraulic design-related problems and provide guidance on updating designs.
  • Promote safe working practices and safe product design principles.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Detailed technical knowledge and experience with rotating equipment and engineered products.
  • Certificate of Hydraulic Engineering or equivalent experience (5-10 years).
  • Proficiency in performance testing requirements and associated hydraulic design, specifically API610 and API674.
  • Able to apply classical design techniques and use tools for full-range Hydraulic Engineering Design tasks.
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills for direction, support, and consultation with employees, sales teams, and customers.
    • Familiarity with Excel, Sharepoint, Power Apps, and VBA preferred.
  • Experience in performance test data analysis and processing for compliance against specification.
  • Desire and ability to develop skills beyond current expertise.
  • A forward thinker capable of driving change, innovation, improving departmental efficiencies, and reducing COPQ.
    • Proficient in CAD software applications.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Able to set and hit personal and team deadlines.
  • An interest in self-development, innovation, and forward thinking.
  • An active and valuable team participant prioritizing team success over individual success.

Estimated Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
