The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Academic Leader to join our team as the Dean of the School of Life Science and Business. This is a permanent, full-time position that reports directly to the Vice President Academic.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Administration
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the School of Life Science and Business, ensuring alignment with the College's strategic plan.
- Manage and oversee the budget and budget processes for the School.
- Recruit, manage, and supervise employees to ensure the School operates effectively.
- People Leadership
- Provide direction, supervision, and performance management to faculty and staff.
- Ensure the School operates with consistent Human Resource and Academic practices.
- Participate in the advancement of a diverse and inclusive campus.
- Teaching and Learning
- Promote teaching and learning strategies that enhance student success.
- Identify and lead opportunities for new and academic programming.
A Master's degree (or equivalent) is preferred; equivalent combinations of education and progressive work experience will be considered. Relevant and meaningful work experience in a post-secondary or other educational environment performing or overseeing instruction, program management, curriculum development, and curriculum evaluation is essential.
The ideal candidate will have proven administrative and leadership experience, with superior relationship-building skills. They will be able to demonstrate achievements in growing the strategic drivers and guide others to realize their goals and achieve their full potential. Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, diplomacy, and good judgment are essential. Capacity to interpret data and financial information and manage financial transactions with a high level of internal controls is also required.
