The Opportunity: Dean, School of Life Science and Business

Purpose of Position:
Reporting to the Vice President Academic, the Dean is responsible for leadership, management, and resourcing of programs and staff in fields related to the School of Life Science & Business. As part of the College Leadership Team, the Dean contributes to the development and implementation of the Olds College Strategic Plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership & Administration
    1. Model leadership in a complex environment combined with the ability to coordinate, manage, leverage and integrate the efforts of faculty, staff, contractors and partners.
    2. Contribute to the achievement of the Olds College Strategic Plan, including managing and overseeing the budget and budget processes.
  2. People Leadership
    1. Provide direction, supervision and performance management to faculty and staff.
    2. Ensure the School is operating with consistent Human Resource and Academic practices.
    3. Identify and lead opportunities for new and academic programming.

Requirements:
Proven administrative and leadership experience with superior relationship building skills. Ability to demonstrate achievements in growing the strategic drivers and guide others to realize their goals and achieve their full potential. Capacity to meet demanding deadlines and complete a high volume of diverse projects with a great degree of initiative and independence. Strong relationships with industry sectors considered an asset, or ability to quickly and effectively develop these relationships. Capacity to interpret data and financial information and manage financial transactions with a high level of internal controls. Strong dedication to promoting inclusivity and diversity. Foster a proactive approach to promoting equity and embracing differences, both within the role and in the broader community. Must respect and actively promote health and safety policies.
