Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled Lead Lighting Artist to join our team and contribute to the development of our AAA game projects. As a Lead Lighting Artist, you'll be responsible for guiding the visual style and quality of lighting across our projects, collaborating with art directors, partners, and design teams to bring color and life to immersive worlds.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with art directors, partners, and design teams to develop a cohesive visual style and quality of lighting for our projects.
  2. Lead and mentor a team of lighting artists, driving the visual style and quality bar for lighting across our projects.
  3. Communicate plans and goals for lighting visually to coordinate with stakeholders across the project.
  4. Stay up-to-date with advancing technology and tools, continually improving lighting pipelines and team efficiency.
  5. Scope out deliverables, schedule, and manage expectations for the lighting team.
  6. Proactively create content that is performant and leaves overhead for other stakeholders.
  7. Apply skills in atmospheric effects, practical sources, time of day, color, and cinematography to support project needs.
Requirements
  1. 4+ years of lighting experience in the game industry.
  2. 2+ years of leadership experience.
  3. Shipped 2+ AAA titles as a lighting artist.
  4. Solid proficiency in Unreal, especially with Lumen.
  5. Deep understanding of PBR, lighting systems, and rendering technology.
  6. Excellent understanding of lighting pipelines and workflows as they relate to game development.
  7. Ability to initiate visual direction without a specific concept or design.
  8. High level of mentorship abilities and willingness to support and train other team members.
  9. Desire to work in and support a diverse and inclusive environment.
