We are looking for a talented and experienced Lighting Supervisor to lead our lighting team in crafting visually stunning environments and characters. In this crucial role, you will oversee the artistic lighting direction in alignment with the creative vision set by the VFX Supervisor, ensuring that every element shines with quality and consistency. Your leadership will empower the team to deliver breathtaking visuals that enhance our projects and engage audiences.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Artistic Leadership: Direct the artistic lighting for environments, characters, and elements, ensuring that the final output aligns with the vision established by the VFX Supervisor.
  • Team Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to the lighting team on best practices, show-standard templates, and light rigs, promoting the creation of beautifully lit images for the compositing team.
  • Rendering Oversight: Manage the rendering process for shots, ensuring efficiency and quality throughout the production pipeline using Redshift and Arnold.
  • Template Management: Develop and maintain lighting templates for shows, sequences, or shots, ensuring consistency and high standards across all projects.
  • Quality Assurance: Supervise rough and preliminary composites of renders during dailies and reviews, maintaining artistic integrity and technical excellence.
  • Creative Collaboration: Work closely with the CG Supervisor and other departments to fulfill the creative vision of the show, providing support and insights to enhance collaboration.
  • Pipeline Optimization: Collaborate to identify and resolve pipeline inefficiencies, streamlining workflow.
  • Client Engagement: Respond promptly to the needs of stakeholders, maintaining professionalism and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative Design: Design, implement, and critique lighting and compositing techniques to facilitate the desired creative "look" of each project.
  • Team Development: Lead and coach the lighting team, ensuring high-quality performance and skill development throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Recruitment Involvement: Actively participate in the recruitment and staffing of the lighting team, assessing candidates' work and fit for the department.


Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of live-action lighting experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory role, demonstrating strong mentorship, feedback, and work assignment capabilities.
  • Experience with Redshift and Arnold considered an asset.
  • Deep understanding of 3D concepts and workflows.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, ensuring clear guidance and effective team collaboration.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-end aesthetic and technical execution in lighting.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, capable of inspiring and managing creative/technical talent in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands with flexibility and professionalism in a creative setting.
