As a full-time Consultant in our Benefits Consulting Practice, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining client relationships, mentoring team members, and contributing to the firm's internal initiatives.

The position will focus on effective development and delivery of various benefits consulting projects, working closely with senior practitioners to address the unique needs of each client. You will guide client teams in the development of analyses, reports, and recommendations, and deliver insights and advice directly to clients, ensuring high-quality service delivery.

This role requires strong experience working with large benefit programs, either single-employer or multi-employer in nature, with hands-on roles at both the analyst and consultant levels. A well-rounded background in both technical (core insurance and actuarial valuation) and consulting capacities is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Client Management and Project Oversight
    • Agilely work alongside senior practitioners to continuously meet the unique needs of clients.
    • Guide client teams in the development of analyses, reports, and recommendations.
    • Deliver insights and advice directly to clients, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
    • Oversee and manage client projects, ensuring deadlines are met and outcomes align with client expectations.
    • Travel as necessary to meet with clients and foster strong professional relationships.
  • Technical and Analytical Duties
    • Complete complex technical analyses, calculations, and governance exercises pertinent to client needs.
    • Serve as a signing actuary on various valuations and other required disclosures.
    • Peer review technical analyses and calculations to ensure accuracy and client-readiness.
    • Ensure comprehensive documentation and organization of all work products.
  • Development and Innovation
    • Support the development of internal tools and models to enhance client delivery effectiveness.
    • Support business development and expanding client relationships.
    • Monitor market changes to assess impacts on clients and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Mentor and help develop team members within the benefits team, fostering a dynamic learning environment.
    • Deliver appropriate training and feedback to junior team members, supporting their professional growth.
    • Participate in client meetings/calls in both lead and supportive roles, enhancing team engagement and client interaction.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Fully qualified actuary, possessing FCIA (Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries) and FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designations. Candidates with ACIA (Associate of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries) and ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) designations may also be considered.
  • A minimum of 6 to 8 years of benefits consulting experience, with hands-on roles at both the analyst and consultant levels.
Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $175,000 annually
