About the Job:
We are seeking a skilled Railway Maintenance Worker to join our team at Great Plains Rail Contractors. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of our railway infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on railway tracks, including shoveling rocks and dirt, clearing brush and tall grass, and removing tie plates from the rail
- Operate small equipment such as rail saws, drills, grinders, puller, air compressor, bolter, and backpack blower
- Use hand tools such as hammers, claw bars, drift pin, scythes, brooms, shovel, pick, and track jacks
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions and travel throughout Western Canada for extended periods
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Hold a full, valid class 5 driver's license
- Be willing to undergo pre-employment testing, including a criminal record check, drug, alcohol, and fitness fit-for-duty testing
- Be physically able to perform repetitive bending, standing for long periods of time, carry up to 50lbs unassisted, repetitive swinging motions, walking on uneven surfaces
