About the Role

The Saskatchewan Research Council's Rare Earth Element Division is seeking a highly motivated Research Technologist to assist with research and development activities at our Rare Earth Processing Facility. This position will play a key role in supporting the development of new technologies and processes for the extraction and processing of rare earth elements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design, development, and testing of instrumentation and control systems for various research and development activities
  • Support the maintenance and repair of laboratory and pilot-scale equipment
  • Prepare samples for analysis and conduct routine laboratory tests
  • Coordinate logistics for materials and parts across various suppliers and SRC locations

Requirements

  • Diploma in mechanical, instrumentation, electrical, or design and manufacturing engineering technology; equivalent years of relevant experience without a diploma will be considered
  • Two to five years of experience in areas such as design and drafting, software programming, research and development testing, and hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical systems

Skills and Abilities

  • Highly motivated with a commitment to continuous learning in an innovative work environment
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow directions and work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Aptitude for instrumentation, controllers, robotics, and machining
  • Basic fabrication skills and experience using hand and power tools

This position will require a flexible schedule during active testing periods, including evening and weekend shifts. The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties.
