Position Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Council's Rare Earth Element Division is seeking a Research Technologist to support innovative research and development initiatives. This role will be integral to the operations at the Rare Earth Processing Facility, which stands as North America's pioneering fully integrated commercial demonstration site, encompassing hydrometallurgy, separation, and metal smelting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems for diverse research and development projects.
- Support the upkeep of LabVIEW-based software applications.
- Prepare samples for analytical procedures, perform a range of standard laboratory tests, assist in data gathering, and operate both laboratory and pilot-scale equipment.
- Manage logistics for materials and components across various suppliers and internal locations.
Required Qualifications
- A diploma in mechanical, instrumentation, electrical, or design and manufacturing engineering technology; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a diploma.
- Preferred experience of two to five years in fields such as design and drafting (AutoCAD, Inventor, Plant 3D, Vault), software development (LabVIEW, Python, Arduino), and hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical systems.

- A strong drive for continuous learning within an innovative work setting.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in instrumentation, controllers, robotics, and machining.
- Basic fabrication skills and familiarity with hand and power tools.
This role may require a flexible schedule during active testing phases, including potential evening and weekend shifts.
The selected candidate will need to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check prior to starting employment duties.
